Spring Break trip to Eugene

Pics T-B: the Plaza at the U of O athletic complex, the back of the huge scoreboard at Autzen Stadium, The Duck Store!, Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House

Last weekend we took a short trip to our church's spring break Youth Convention. It's held in a different city each year to give an opportunity for kids from different areas of the state to participate. This year it was Eugene's turn.

We arrived Friday morning so I could speak at the park service in Alton Baker Park. The kids were very attentive and respectful as I told a little of my life story and of God's kindness to me. There were a lot of other activities that afternoon, including singing and sign language.

Afterwards, Anne-Marie and I checked in to our motel and went for a drive around town. You can see some of our pics above. The University of Oregon's Autzen Stadium is pretty much NFL-sized.

A trip downtown took us to the 5th Street Public Market for some Middle Eastern food and a quick look at the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House (gotta love that catchy name). Another service that night and spending some time with friends made for a late night.

The next morning we were up at 6:15 to get to an adoption seminar in Dove Adoptions' hometown of Banks! I guess I should talk about that in my next post.

  1. This is the only thing I really miss about OR. Autzen on fall afternoons! Man there is no other place like it in the world.
