Streetwise Leadership Class

On Wednesday nights I leave work and drive from Tualatin to North Portland to head up a mentoring class. Kids from 9-15 years old from the community meet in a room graciously provided for us free of charge by the Housing Authority of Portland.

SLC is a Biblically-based class for youth in the low income areas that covers basic life issues: integrity, truth, wisdom, potential, service. We have group discussions, play games, and have short lectures and/or illustrations on a particular topic each week. The class averages about 8 young people. And, yes, it does get wild on occasion.
