This weekend Dove Adoptions' in-country lawyer was in Portland. They planned several events and we got to take part in a couple of them.
On Friday night we went to the Portland Children's Museum in Washington Park for a pizza party. This place was the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry back in the early nineties and I hadn't been there since it changed. Lot of memories in that place. They did a great job converting it into a fun, educational experience for children.
It was good to sit and talk a little with the lawyer, Sintayehu (probably closest to pronounce it sin-TIE-oo). He is quiet and almost shy, but loves the families--especially the children. We will be seeing him soon, a little closer to home.
Sunday we had a picnic at Rood Bridge Park. As soon as we got there, a rain storm came blowing in from the west and we were all trapped under the picnic shelter. It was great, though because we got to meet all kinds of adoptive families. When we asked how long it was taking for people to get their children's referrals the answer was varied. But the one consistent thing seems to be "faster than we thought!" Everybody hang on tight...
Got some good pictures: 1st through 3rd - in the PCM; 4th - Sintayehu with Annie Rose (you might remember her from this post); 5th - Anne-Marie at the picnic; 6th - Levi; 7th - Yetta (fell in love with this little girl that afternoon)
