Well, I should probably really start with Christmas Eve. We went to my uncle Ed's house way out in the little town of Scholls, Oregon. For a lot of that side of the family, it was the first time to meet Elisha and Mariah. We had a great time visiting with the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The kids even got a few presents, the first Christmas presents they've probably ever received. That evening we got the kids to bed at a decent hour and woke the next day for our first Christmas morning with our babies. I think at least 80% of the presents were from Grandma. I couldn't keep up!The kids got a farm set, a princess castle and some much-needed winter coats among many other things. They loved the wrapping paper, the boxes and the toys.
Then it was off to Grandpa's house in Canby for a salmon and ribs dinner and it was scrumptious! The kids loved playing with their cousins and we enjoyed a little break. And that was one of the best parts of the whole weekend. It was so nice to have a day to relax and enjoy.
I have a feeling that next year will be even better and that the kids will look forward to it more. And while they're learning to be excited about Christmas day, we can also tell them about the true meaning of Christmas. Thinking about it makes me wish it was tomorrow. OK. Maybe not.
Anyone out there want a slightly-used Christmas tree?
