Loss

As I write I'm reminded of how "unfair" life on earth can be. Steven and Mary Beth Chapman adopted their youngest daughter, Maria, as a special needs child. It was only when they got home that they found that her diagnosed heart condition was a mistake and that she was in perfect health.

Many of you know that Chapman's first national adoption campaign in 2004 was the thing that initially inspired me to adopt. Along with inspiring others, Shaohannah's Hope has helped finance more than 1,700 adoptions for couples that couldn't afford it.

He returned from overseeing the construction of the organization's first orphanage a week and a half ago. His oldest daughter became engaged on Saturday. He was named iParenting "Dad of the Month" on Monday.

He lost his littlest Cinderella on Wednesday.
