In 2014--no, scratch that--At the end of 2013 we made one of the most difficult decisions of our life. After more than three years living in the Seattle area, we decided to move back home to Portland. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Anne-Marie had a major surgery scheduled for January 2014, so as our last New Year's Day in town approached we (fought through multiple layers of the Affordable Care Act and) prepared for the big day and months-long recovery process that followed. I promised Anne-Marie that I would take her on a trip once she started feeling better.
The destination we picked? Seattle. Yep, we drove 32 miles north of our house and stayed at a little hotel in Ballard. We went shopping downtown and at Pike Place. We rode the Ferris wheel. We saw the Troll and went to the top of the Needle. Here's a photo of that unforgettable trip.
