Quizzing starts tomorrow

Oregon District Senior Bible Quizzing starts tomorrow with a tournament in Hood River. I'll once again be running the Experienced Division of this season's tournaments. The 2008 study material is four of Paul's epistles: Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

Hope it doesn't snow like last year.

Congrats!

To our first place team from last weekend's finals: LaGrande, Oregon!

I shouldn't forget to commend the Hood River team for their valiant efforts to make it to second place!

Next year's material is from Paul's letters to the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians. Don't miss it!

(I left the picture taking responsibilities up to other people, so I don't know what's on our camera. If they got some good shots, I may post 'em here.)

A grand ol' time...

In La Grande!

We're here in Eastern Oregon for the final invitational tournament of the year, and getting ready for finals in June.

Thanks to our friends the Meaderds who invited us to come up early on Friday so we could attend the NW Apostolic Conference.

2007 Western Regional Extravaganza

I'm never in charge of the April tournament, because the local tournament is always pre-empted by the Regional tournament, and the National Quiz guys (their official title) are in charge of it. The tournament, with 21 teams total, was held in Beaverton, Oregon.

The bad news is that the California teams took home most of the big trophies, but I did want to take the time to extend congratulations to our 3rd and 4th place teams (respectively), LaGrande and Hood River. Also, congratulations to Nate Eddy from Hood River for being the top scorer for the whole tournament.

Oregon City took a hard-earned 4th in the Intermediate Division. Andrew Huffman was Second Highest Scorer.

We'll wait to win until next year's Regional Tournament in California.

Next up is LaGrande tournament, May 19.

Gresham Tournament results

This Saturday was the second BQ Tourney this year. It was held in Gresham. No snow this time; instead, we looked out the windows to the most clear and sunny day of the year!

Once again our top teams were LaGrande 1 and Gresham 1. We'll see if Albany or Hood River will edge their way into finals by the end of the year!

I will post a couple of pictures later today, but I don't have my camera with me right now. This time I brought our real camera instead of using my phone, but I let everyone else take the pictures. Hope they were good!

Also up soon, my thoughts on discretion and pharmaceutical companies.

Hood River Tournament results

This Saturday we went to Hood River for the first Bible Quizzing Tournament of the year. I guess we shouldn't have been surprised to see snow as we drove into town!

As we registered seven teams in our division, we kept looking out the window to see if we were going to make it home that afternoon. Snow continued to fall from early in the morning until one in the afternoon (by that time there were about seven inches on the ground). I was nearly looking forward to an unexpected night in the Columbia Gorge Hotel, but by the time we were finished with the tournament, all the roads were clear. Oh well, it was great experience!

Congratulations to our top teams: LaGrande 1 and AWC (Gresham) 1!

I think I'll start putting pics at the bottom of the post. Blogger seems to mess up the layout if you try it any other way.
